The Etowah County Fair, the second-oldest county fair in Alabama, opens Wednesday and will run through Saturday at the County Fairgrounds in Attalla.

The Etowah County Fair, the second-oldest county fair in Alabama, opens Wednesday and will run through Saturday at the County Fairgrounds in Attalla.
Etowah County Fair President Randall Green said the gates for the 80th annual event will open at 5:30 p.m. each day, with the fair beginning at 6 p.m. The fairground is behind the Days Inn in Attalla.
General admission tickets are $3 per person and children younger than 6 will be admitted free.
Wristbands for unlimited rides cost $15, Green said, and individual tickets for rides will be available. There will be a petting zoo, and camel rides will be available for an additional charge.
In addition to 20 to 25 midway rides and food vendors, there will be entertainment each night the Unbroken Quartet and Teddy Cox on Wednesday; the Christianaires and Rose Cox on Thursday; the Starlighters on Friday; and Laura Dodd, Mr. Blackwells Petty Thieves and Creigh Riepe on Saturday.
Entries for the various exhibits for judging, including canned and baked goods, fruits and vegetables and quilts, should be brought to the fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Green said. Call (***) ***-**** for exhibit information.
