Description:

From 31st annual Moundville Native American Festival Website:

Our 31st annual Moundville Native American Festival will be held October 9-12, 2019! We will have Native American performers, demonstrators, living history teachers, and crafts vendors here to teach and celebrate Native American culture. Visit the tools and weapons range to learn how to throw an atlatl, or visit the Native American stage to learn about stomp dancing, social dancing, hoop dancing, and SO much more! And don't miss the music with GrayHawk Perkins and many others. Learn about pottery firing, textiles, bead work, and many other crafts at our demonstration area. Take your children to our Children's Area for face painting and make and take crafts! Purchase your own unique Native American crafts in the vendor's area! Vendors will also be on hand to provide Native American foods as well as traditional festival foods such as hamburgers, hot dogs, and shaved ice. Don't forget Knapper's Corner down by the riverbank where stone tool making demonstrations will be done and hand made stone tool reproductions will be available for purchase. This is a great trip for school groups, so share with your educator friends! Group booking is available in advance: email llrasco@ua.edu for information. Make plans to put us on your calendar and save the date!

Moundville is located 13 miles south of Tuscaloosa, off Alabama Highway 69. Event admission costs will be TBD.

We are proud to be endorsed this year as an official Bicentennial Event with the Alabama Bicentennial Commission!
