Description:

From Battles for the Armory Website:

Tallassee Living History and Heritage Days, brought to you by The Tallassee Armory Guards (SCV Camp 1921) in conjunction with the Talisi Cotton Belles (OCR Chapter 020), is a 3 day Veteran's Weekend celebration featuring School Day, the Battles for the Armory live Civil War Reenactment. Located on the Historic Gibson's View Plantantion where there will be expansive open fields well suited to cavalry, camping areas with piped water and shower facilities, and modern camping areas with water only. If the Lord provides water, we will provide hay for cavalry horses. Come see what the excitement is all about!

This year marks the 22nd Anniversary of the Battles for the Armory annual event. We have a spectacular event planned beginning Friday with our School Day Living History Encampment where students will experience history of the 1860s to include culture, crafts, homemaking, dance, dress, weapons, toys, soap making, battle, medicine and much more giving the students new insight into day to day life during the 1860s.

The public is invited to join us Saturday and Sunday for a very family-oriented, fun-filled, and educational weekend event you don't want to miss out on. You will see a live portrayal of a Civil War battle put on by many reenactors to include the Tallassee Armory Guards, the 53rd Alabama Cavalry reenactors, and 48th Alabama Infantry reenactors. There will be many attractions to include a working blacksmith shop, carriage rides over the plantation, period foods, and our usual Sutler's Village providing unique shopping opportunities of WBTS items for reenactors and the general public.
