Bookmark and Share
Location Columbiana
Dates June 23, 2017 - June 24, 2017
Description:

From 31st Annual Liberty Day Website:

Liberty Day was named in honor of the Statue of Liberty, which was a gift of international friendship from the people of France to the people of the United States, and is one of the most universal symbols of political freedom and democracy. The Statue of Liberty was dedicated in New York Harbor on October 28, 1886 and after extensive restoration was rededicated on July 4, 1986.

In 1986 a group of patriotic citizens organized to sponsor Columbianas first Liberty Day to honor and to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty. In response to their efforts, the first Liberty Day was held on Main Street in the summer of 1986 and featured patriotic music, local dance groups, and fireworks.

Liberty Day is held each year on the last Saturday of June in downtown Columbiana, Alabama and is free to the public. For additional information contact Elizabeth Smith at Columbiana City Hall at (***) ***-****.
